Geothermal Software

HYGCHP Hybrid and Life Cycle Cost Software
Cary Smith, Sound Geothermal Corporation
Design and operation of hybrid geothermal systems are significantly more complex than conventional ground coupled systems and there is currently little information available in this regard that is accessible to the practicing designer. This presentation previews a simulation based hybrid design and LCC optimization tool being beta tested as a result of work by Scott Hackel and a team from the University of Wisconsin through ASHRAE Technical Research Project-1384.

Smith is a founding partner and CEO of Sound Geothermal Corporation. He has over 35 years experience in the fields of energy consulting, exploration and development, and energy systems design.  Sound Geothermal has been a pioneer in development and design of hybrid GeoExchange systems throughout the Western United States.

LoopLink Software
Ryan Carda
Based on IGSHPA’s new design and installation manual, LoopLink is designed for contractors and engineers alike. With an intuitive user interface and unparalleled accuracy, LoopLink offers a simple, effective means of properly designing geothermal systems.  This presentation will be a basic introduction to the key features of LoopLink starting with a quick demonstration and a Q&A session to follow.

Carda is the creator of the LoopLink Load Estimator, and co-author of “Design and Installation of Residential and Light Commercial GSHP Systems," developed in cooperation with the International Ground Source Heat Pump Association.  His industry experience has  included technical support, design, installation, commissioning and troubleshooting of geothermal systems.
